Shazia Majid

Shazia Majid was shortlisted for the biggest Norwegian literary award, Brageprisen 2019, for her debut non-fiction "Ut av skyggene" (Out of the shadows). The book was also shortlisted for the prestigious Norwegian Literary Critics award 2019. Majid is a daughter of Pakistani immigrants and an award-winning Investigative Reporter in VG, Norway's leading newspaper. In April 2019, Majid made her debut with "Ut av skyggene". The critically acclaimed book tells the story of the first women of colour in Norway, one of the most gender equal countries in the world. It is a tale of the trials and triumphs of women who set off their journey to Norway from Pakistan, India, Turkey and Morocco in the late 60's and early 70's. This book also takes the reader through the story of their daughters, fighting patriarchy on one hand and shattering the societal glass ceiling on the other.
